Honouring the late Jack Hallam

Jack Hallam (1928-2015). Lambda Foundation (LF) extends its sympathies to the family and friends of one of our generous benefactors, Jack Hallam of Salt Spring Island, BC. In 2007, through the Lambda Foundation, Jack established the Jack Hallam Human Rights Awards for grade 12 students at the local Gulf Islands Secondary School.  Each annual award is valued at $1000 and is given to an outstanding student leader who is active in the fight against homophobia, transphobia and other intersecting forms of discrimination, including racism. In breaking the news of Jack’s passing to the current LF board members, the founder of Lambda, Gary Sealey, wrote this tribute: “Worthy friend, remarkable philanthropist, guided by his own strong lamp, Jack Hallam was both generous and strategic in his gifts to LF.”
