Lambda Scholarship Foundation Canada is pleased to announce Davis Fowlow (she/her) as this year’s recipient of the Christian Landry Memorial Award for Graduate Studies at the University of New Brunswick.

The award supports graduate students at UNB — entering or already enrolled, in any field of study — who are undertaking research that contributes to greater knowledge of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or intersex communities.

Davis is a PhD student in the English program at UNB, in the Gender and Sexuality in Literature stream. She holds an M.A. in Women and Gender Studies from Saint Mary’s University and a B.A. in English, Language, and Literature from Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus.

Her doctoral research sits at the intersection of obsessive-compulsive disorder and queerness, approached through a cross-genre study of contemporary queer literature in North America, with a particular focus on the Canadian context. Her broader research interests extend to Indigiqueerness, queer rurality, and intimate partner violence within the queer community — work that speaks directly to the kind of scholarship this award was created to support.

“Thank you so much for this generous scholarship,” Davis shared.

Congratulations, Davis — we’re proud to support your work.

Awards like this one are made possible by donors who believe in supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC scholars across Canada. If you’d like to help fund the next one, we’d love to hear from you.
