Jack Hallam Human Rights Award
The Jack Hallam Human Rights Award honours the legacy of Jack Hallam of Salt Spring Island, BC (1928–2015), a gay philanthropist whose lifelong commitment to human rights led him to establish this award through the Lambda Foundation in 2007. Each annual award, valued at $1,000, is presented to an outstanding Grade 12 student leader at Gulf Islands Secondary School who is active in the fight against homophobia, transphobia, and other intersecting forms of discrimination, including racism.
