Honoring Dr. Sara Bannerman: Celebrating Her Contributions and Leadership at the Lambda Foundation

Lambda Board Ottawa Pride 2023

With deep appreciation and gratitude, we announced the departure of Dr. Sara Bannerman from the Board of Directors at the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Lambda Scholarship Foundation Canada.

Dr. Bannerman, Canada Research Chair in Communication Studies and Governance, is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia at McMaster University. She has served a two-year term as Vice President of the Board and, before that, a three-year term as Director.

As President of the Board, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bannerman for her unwavering dedication to the Lambda Foundation.

Over the past two years, Sara has played a pivotal role in our Executive team, particularly in securing a contribution agreement with the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), awarded to us in November last year. This past year, her efforts have been instrumental in finalizing the agreement, hiring our Development Manager, and ensuring timely submission of activity reports and cash flows.

Thanks to Dr. Bannerman’s hard work and volunteerism, the Lambda Board is stronger than ever. We look forward to continuing our collaboration in support of Queer Scholars and Scholarships across Canada.

Cameron Aitken
President, Lambda Scholarship Foundation Canada
