John Ryan — Director

John Ryan (he/him) is co-founder and principal of Significant Other, a Toronto-based creative agency that partners with mission-driven organizations across research and innovation, arts and culture, and the social good sector. His work sits at the intersection of brand strategy, digital systems, and organizational storytelling; helping universities, cultural institutions, foundations, and human rights organizations clarify who they are and build the digital platforms to express it.

John lives in Toronto with his husband Jacob and their two daughters. As a gay man, he has seen first-hand how transformative access to research and education can be, particularly for underserved communities whose stories and contributions have too often gone unrecorded or unsupported. He is honoured to support Lambda’s longstanding work expanding educational opportunity and building the scholarly record of 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC lives in Canada. He is also the co-founder of West End Family Pride, a community organization supporting 2SLGBTQ+ families in Toronto’s west end.
