Lambda Foundation Emerging 2SLGBTQ+ Francophone Writer Award

The Lambda Foundation Emerging 2SLGBTQ+ Francophone Writer Award is an annual $5,000 prize recognizing emerging 2SLGBTQ+ Francophone writers residing in Canada. Created in partnership with Fierté littéraire, this award celebrates literary excellence and supports early-career queer Francophone authors whose voices contribute to the richness of Canadian literature but who have not yet received major literary recognition.

The award aims to increase visibility for queer Francophone writing, provide financial support that can help advance a writer’s career, and strengthen cultural infrastructure that supports diverse literary expression across French-language communities in Canada.

To be eligible for the award, applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Identify as 2SLGBTQ+ and Francophone, and be residing in Canada;
  • Have at least one piece of work published in a public literary forum (e.g., journal, anthology, magazine, zine, or independently published);
  • Have not yet received a major literary award;
  • Be in the early stages of a literary career, typically having published no more than one full-length book or an equivalent body of work.

Submissions for the award are solicited and managed by Fierté littéraire. A jury of qualified literary professionals reviews applications and selects the annual recipient. Fierté littéraire oversees all public-facing award communications, adjudication, and the annual award ceremony. Full details on submission timelines and jury composition will be posted when available.
