Lambda’s Capacity Funding Extended Through March 2027

WAGE extension 2026 notice

Lambda Scholarship Foundation Canada is pleased to announce that our capacity funding agreement with Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) has been extended through March 31, 2027.

This extension is part of a significant federal investment announced by the Honourable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism).

On May 25, 2026, Minister Valdez announced over $77.5 million in funding to extend projects for 395 organizations across Canada — what she described as “the largest funding announcement in the history of Women and Gender Equality Canada by number of organizations supported.”

Lambda’s funding falls under WAGE’s 2SLGBTQI+ Community Capacity Fund, which directed $9.9 million toward 65 organizations working to advance safety, equity, and systemic change for 2SLGBTQI+ communities across the country.

What this funding supports

This extended investment allows Lambda to deepen three areas of organizational development:

  • Fundraising and financial sustainability — building the infrastructure and long-term strategies to diversify our funding and grow our impact
  • Governance and organizational policy — formalizing board accountability, HR frameworks, and staff oversight structures that reflect best practices
  • National visibility and community engagement — expanding Lambda’s reach across Canada and developing tools for community and corporate partnership

Together, these priorities strengthen Lambda as an organization — so we can better serve 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC students seeking access to post-secondary education for years to come.

Thank you

We are grateful to Minister Valdez and WAGE for their continued recognition of this work and their investment in the capacity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community sector.

Post-secondary education is a pathway to economic security, leadership, and self-determination. Too many 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC students face barriers that others don’t. This funding helps Lambda become a more resilient, better-resourced organization — one equipped to meet that need at a national scale.

Your contribution helps open doors that discrimination, financial barriers, and systemic exclusion too often close. When you give to Lambda, you’re funding a student’s path to education — and to the leadership, security, and self-determination that comes with it.

Your generosity creates access, opportunity, and change.
