Université de Montréal
Lambda Foundation Award for Excellence
This scholarship was established to support the Université de Montréal in fulfilling its mission of teaching and research. The awarding of this annual scholarship is the Foundation’s chosen means of expressing its support for the university and of encouraging excellence in research related to gay and lesbian people. The scholarship is reserved for full-time master’s and doctoral students at the Université de Montréal, regardless of their field of study or research and regardless of their sexual orientation, age, sex, or linguistic, religious, or cultural background. Their thesis, dissertation, or research paper must focus on gay or lesbian people, including their communities, values, achievements, arts, sports, and issues relating to policies or human rights.
In addition to being enrolled full time, students must have an excellent academic record. Recipients must also be willing to attend a Lambda Foundation for Excellence reception or meeting. The annual award is a minimum of $1,000. The value of each scholarship is determined by the availability of funds.
